What is The Big Score?

The Big Score is an international investor and corporate matchmaking event, organized by Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu. The Big Score accelerates collaboration between scale-ups, international investors and corporate innovators. Our USP is our 100% focus on boosting sales and funding by welcoming only relevant profiles: 50 nominated European scale-ups that pitch to and connect with 300+ international VCs and corporates; and 35 ‘super prospect’ multinationals that present budgeted challenges towards 200+ relevant startups. We provide luxury spaces, a smooth networking tool and key info to confirm our reputation as Europe's nr. 1 deal boosting event! In addition, our relaxed vibe, upscale cuisine and side events will keep you hooked for future editions.

When & where will The Big Score 2021 take place?

The Big Score is a three-day event from November 30 to December 2, and has two different tracks:  
     1. 50 nominated scale-ups that grace the stage and connect with 300+ investors and corporates (exclusive for         these profiles) on November 30 & December 1. (LIVE)
     2. 35 multinationals will present their budgeted challenges and connect with B2B tech startups on December 2         (LIVE & REMOTE)
The event is organized in easily accessible and premium business center MeetDistrict, in the Ghelamco Football Arena, in Ghent, Belgium.

How to get to the venue?

By train

International trains arrive at Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid. Several trains depart directly from there to Gent Sint-Pieters every hour. The train takes 35 minutes to Gent Sint-Pieters. From there ask for a taxi (10min) to bring you to MeetDisitrict in the Ghelamco Arena (foorball stadium) in Ghent. Everybody knows this landmark. Alternatively, you can hop on a direct bus.

By car

The Ghelamco Arena is near all of the major highways in Ghent and just ten minutes away from the city center. Upon arrival at the venue, you can park your car at visitor parking of MeetDisitrict.

What is the networking tool?

We use the networking tool Conversation Starter. After claiming your ticket, we will provide a link to easily create a profile on the tool. This is essential to browse the attendees and pre-schedule one-on-one meetings (depending on your ticket type). A week before the event you will be notified when you can start to browse attendees and book meetings. The tool will suggest ideal meeting times, keeps your schedule organized and notifies at which numbered meeting point you can hook up with your contact. We provide dozens of spacious rooms to meet discretely, in all comfort.  

For remote, online ticket holders on day 3; the tool will automatically start a video call instead. So be prepared in front of your laptop.

Who can buy a startup pass?

The Big Score is open for all B2B tech start- and scale-ups on day three, December 2, to discover 35 super prospect corporate challenges. Check if you see any interesting challenges here. You can choose to attend live or online for the same price and functionalities. Note that on day one and two The Big Score is only accessible for nominated scale-ups, investors and corporates.  

Attending live on December 2 has some serious perks: connect face to face, enjoy upscale catering and access our amazing afterparty at the concert hall of Vooruit, in lovely Ghent starring an international DJ set in an awesome art deco venue. No worries, you can tune in via the live stream to the follow the challenges and network via one-on-one video calls, both seamlessly integrated via one simple platform.  

How can I get on stage & pitch at The Big Score?

All European scale-ups pitching at The Big Score our selected and curated by our partners and selecting VCs. However you can always send us an email (info@scale-ups.eu) if you are a European B2B rocket ship with an impactful ICT solution, and already have 3M+ EUR in product revenue, high growth(!) and are looking for series A or B. If we are still missing some countries or certain solutions, you might find yourself on stage.

How does a day at The Big Score look like?

We welcome our guests around 9am, offer a warm welcome and healthy breakfast, and some practical info, including key facts on the line-up of the day.

From 10am onwards we intertwine presentations (depending on ticket / event track: scale-up solutions or corporate challenges) breaks and meeting time. We combine 4 hours of presentations with 3 hours of one-on-ones. During the breaks, we offer open bar, meeting rooms and a pleasant environment to touch base with colleagues or ask our staff for any assistance whatsoever.  

I'm a VC/investors, what's in it for me?

Who can buy an investor pass?

All VCs, debt providers, CVCs, tech investors, deep pocket angels that look into high growth ICT, enterprise and digital solutions are welcome on all three days of The Big Score, with priority on day one and two with 50 nominated, high growth ‘elite’ European scale-ups that will pitch their innovative solution live on stage. Also meet plenty of peers, best friend firms and corporates to touch base on the first 2 days.  

On the last day, full access ticket holders can observe all corporate challenges to have essential insights in different innovation priorities of different multinationals: great intel and advice towards your portfolio. All investors receive key growth facts of the selected scale-ups and description of the challenges. Reach out to us if you have question.

What type of scale-ups will be pitching?

Below a list of criteria of the European pitching scale-ups:

- B2B SaaS of digital product generating 3M EUR product revenue in 2020

- Already raised at least 1M EUR but less than 40M EUR in funding

- An avg. annual growth of +100% in the last three years as minimum

- A strong appetite for follow-up investments

- No hardware or life sciences

- HQ in Europe, UK or Israel

All corporate innovators, project leaders, CTOs, CIOs, CDOs, Innovation Managers, … all corporate decision makers working on transition, technology or corporate venturing are welcome on all three days of The Big Score, with on day one and two 50 high growth European scale-ups that will pitch their innovative solution live on stage.

How do I provide all company input?

As a pitching scale-up at The Big Score 2021 we kindly ask you to provide us with company info and growth facts. This information will be published in The Big Score Booklet and will be distributed to attending VCs and corporates. Naturally, you choose of course which info you share published or during the one-on-ones, but note this booklet is used as an essential reference during the event. Please make sure to fill in the portal before October 8.  

Your live event pitch deck will be asked separately via email, end of October (deadline October 29). All scale-ups will get 7 minutes to pitch their solution & ambition, so make sure to fit your presentation accordingly.

What type of ticket do I need to buy?

We require nominated scale-ups to buy a 199 EUR Scale-Up Pitching Pass, allowing two delegates for this one, minor contribution. All pitching scale-ups are requested to attend LIVE the scale-up track on November 30 and December 1 with at least one delegate. The purchase confirms your participation and allows your delegates additional access to the challenge track on day 3, so full access perk to all three days of The Big Score. We respect the travel, so you are in for a treat: open bar, upscale lunch, evening cocktail, awesome staff and closing party.

When do I need to be present?

Your physical attendance as a pitching scale-up is obligatory for the first two days of The Big Score (Nov 30 & Dec 1) with at least one delegate who can have up to a dozen of meetings each day. Don't worry, this is time very well spent. You will be notified about your pitching slot early November. In addition, and as an extra perk, you are more than welcome to stay for day three as well and discover 35 super prospect corporate challenges and shake out 2021 at our epic closing party in Ghent's art deco music temple; the Vooruit.

2. Corporate challenges

How do I provide all company input?

As a presenter of a corporate challenge at The Big Score 2021 we ask you to provide us with company info and specific intel on the challenge. This will help us attract impactful solutions and will be published in The Big Score Booklet, distributed to participating startups. We will use summarized and ‘anonymous’ copy to incentivize relevant startups to attend. Via the following link you can access the portal: https://www.thebigscore.eu/portal/start
